All Hollows Eve: Traditions for Poor People?

Have a Curiosity for the Spiritual World?

When I thought about writing this post, I thought about the glorification of notohalloweenfear.  How all of the television shows and all the movie channels are glorifying ghouls, goblins, ghosts, demons, the undead, haunted houses and the like. Everything in the media today including video games seem to be desensitizing us to like everything that is morally wrong.  Everything that we have been taught for generations is simply a sin, unrighteous and not of Jehovah.

I’m not sure if you’re like me, but for years I thought well, Halloween is just a tradition, its fun although I knew in my heart and always questioned the existence of ghosts, other realities, witches etc.  I was curiously scared enough to know to stay away from Tarot cards and the like, not knowing why but the quiet voice in my spirit always said NO, stay away’.  Now that I am more studied in the Word of Jehovah my curiosity is over and I am now in the KNOW.

James 4:7 - Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

There is definitely a spiritual world that we can’t see and there is evidence of this all throughout the Bible.  In fact, we ARE not only flesh and blood but also Spirit… So we must be careful not to play with the adversary.

Matthew 8:16 - When the even was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils: and he cast out the spirits with [his] word, and healed all that were sick:

Ready to Sacrifice your Children?

There is absolutely no way any Christian should have anything to do with creating fear in anyone’s heart.  It’s not fun, it’s extremely dangerous and leaves your spirit and your children’s spirit open to the adversary.  The old testament has multiple references to Jehovah’s disapproval of magic, witches, wizards etc.  These things are related to the evil angels that were cast down to earth.  You should most definitely read your Bible!  It’s got all the stories of ghosts and goblins in it already!

2 Chronicles 33:6 - And he caused his children to pass through the fire in the valley of the son of Hinnom: also he observed times, and used enchantments, and used witchcraft, and dealt with a familiar spirit, and with wizards: he wrought much evil in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger.

fred priceThis morning I was blessed to have caught a sermon by Pastor Fred Price Jr. on this very subject which give you the history of the Celtic Folklore and how the traditions of Samhain aka Halloween  are exactly what you need to STAY AWAY from.

Support of the Poor now a Tradition?

The American Halloween tradition of “trick-or-treating” probably dates back to the early All Souls’ Day parades in England. During the festivities, poor citizens would beg for food and families would give them pastries called “soul cakes” in return for their promise to pray for the family’s dead relatives. The distribution of soul cakes was encouraged by the church as a way to replace the ancient practice of leaving food and wine for roaming spirits. The practice, which was referred to as “going a-souling” was eventually taken up by children who would visit the houses in their neighborhood and be given ale, food, and money.  Read More on History.com
